Keys Health and Housing is grateful to the Edward B. and June T. Knight Foundation for supporting the next chapter of planning and visioning for the future of Poinciana Plaza in Key West.
Following recent approval from the Key West City Commission, the project is moving forward as part of a long-term effort to reimagine the site into a safer, more welcoming campus designed to better serve community members facing housing instability and homelessness.
For more than two decades, Poinciana Plaza has provided housing and support for individuals experiencing homelessness, people with disabilities, veterans, and extremely low-income community members. Over the years, the site has become an important part of the community’s broader effort to ensure that neighbors facing difficult circumstances have access to stability, care, and support.
Now, that work is entering a new chapter.
In partnership with seven community organizations, the Monroe County Continuum of Care, the City of Key West, and the Key West Housing Authority, Keys Health and Housing has been working toward a vision for updated housing, expanded supportive services, and greater long-term opportunities for residents.
The proposed redevelopment would create safer, more accessible housing alongside coordinated support services—helping strengthen the community’s response to homelessness and housing instability in the Keys for years to come.
We are deeply grateful to the Knight Foundation, our community partners, and everyone helping move this vision forward.
Stay tuned for exciting updates as this project moves forward.
