This month marks one year since residents began moving into the Lofts at Bahama Village.
Opening the new property with 98 affordable apartments was a major milestone for our organization and for Key West. As the first new affordable housing development built in Old Town in many years, the Lofts provide stable housing within walking distance of jobs, shops, the Douglas Community Center, and more.
“Having a stable place to live has made such a difference for our family," one resident shared, "My kids love being close to the splash pad and soccer fields, and I can focus on enjoying time with them instead of worrying about where we live."
Over the past year, we've welcomed families and individuals, many of them longtime residents, who simply needed an affordable place to call home. Watching this come to life has been incredible—neighbors have built a real community at the Lofts.
Our connection to the Bahama Village community continues to grow. As families prepared for the new school year, Keys Health and Housing team members recently joined the annual school supply giveaway event. It’s one more way we’re proud to support and be part of the Bahama Village community.
We are thankful for our partners, the Bahama Village community, City leadership, and all who made this dream a reality for our community.
